Mission Statement
To present programs, events, lectures and activities that promote the
Slovenian arts and culture under the auspices of UWM’s Peck School
of the Arts.
The Slovenian Arts Council works in concert with the Dean of the
Peck School of Arts , cooperatively with Director of UWM Libraries, Music
Librarian and Chairman of the Music Department.
Year 2011 Goals and Action Plan
1. To promote Slovenian Arts and Culture in Milwaukee and surrounding areas.
Action: Plan and schedule Slovenian Arts and Cultural programs.
2. To continue to improve the planning and coordination of the Slovenian Arts
Council’s annual Arts and Cultural programs.
Action: Establish the following Standing Committees: Awards, Bylaws,
Events, Nominations and Outreach.
3. Review the ANNUAL “FRIENDS” membership renewal process
Action: The Council will review the “FRIENDS” membership renewal process.
4. Offer an annual UWM Slovenian Arts Program Scholarship of $ 1000 to a
UWM Peck School of the Arts Major student who meets the following criteria:
a. Be of Slovenian descent.
b. Be enrolled in the UWM Peck School of Arts.
c. Be at least a sophomore in ranking with a 2.5 or better cumulative grade
point average and a 3.25 grade point average in the Peck School of Arts.
d. Be a full time student for the semesters the scholarship would represent.
e. Must not have been the recipient of the UWM Slovenian Arts Program
Scholarship in the previous five year period.
Action: Continue to offer an Annual UWM Slovenian Arts Program Scholarship
5. Offer the Slovenian Arts Performance Grant award every year to further promote
and support the ongoing performances by Slovenians.
Action: Continue to offer a Slovenian Arts Performance Grant annually.
6. Deliver two Newsletters per year .
Action: Develop, print and mail two Newsletters to the membership, the
Ambassador from Slovenia, the Consul General from Slovenia, and the
National and University Library, Head of Processing, Ljubljana,
Slovenia.
7. Continue to follow the standard cash flow procedure for all SAC’s
Income and Dispersements in accordance with standard accounting procedures.
Action: Utilize a standard accounting procedure for all SAC’s
Income and Dispersements.
